Amazing New Custom Bass Rods
My wife and I returned home from the Fredericksburg outdoor show with some amazing new JB Custom Bass Rods a couple weeks ago. I have since gotten a little play with the two I have and I’m just blown away to say the least.
The first is a 6′9″ Finesse Lite (spinning) I got just for smallmouth on the river.
JB (John Ballard) spent alot of time with me finding just what was going to cover most of my bases and I am more than happy. If you can imagine a 90/10 rod; a super fast tip that loads up and casts the lightest baits with ease, with more than enough backbone to handle anything I will tangle on the river. After what JB showed me with this rod, I really wouldn’t be worried about tangleing with something big, provided my drag is set right and not too tight. I can feel every tap as my bait moves along the bottom and in the recent high water, I found myself setting the hook on a few leaves as they brushed by my bait. I’m still looking for that first smallie of they year to kristen this new rod but, I am more than happy already.
My 2nd JB rod is a 6′9″ Huntin Stik, selected just for buzzbaits. Again, I spent time talking with JB, explaining what I was after and he handed me this sweet rod. Needless to say, I liked it and it too came home with me. Today my new Huntin Stik was paired with a quantum ac500 reel for some “lets fool around” in the yard casting practice. I’m likin’ it alot and still haven’t even seen the water with it yet. This rod has the spiral wrap guides which certainly increase the casting distance (like I was told) and allow the rod to bend the way it is supposed too. I can’t begin to tell you how much I’m jonesen’ to get on the water and sling some buzzbaits around with this new addition to my arsenal.
I may change out the reel at some point but, I just couldn’t wait to throw something around any longer. Come on good weather!
I can suggest to anyone that pays for sensitivity and likes to have top of the line equipment that JB Custom Bass Rods makes an amazing product. Check them out when you find some time, send John an email explaing just exactly what your after and he can do it for you. If you already have a JB Custom Bass Rod and want to share any testimonials or more information about his bass rods; JB has a brand new sponsored forum for just that kind of information found by clicking here.
